The mathematical name for this design is a cardioid. My first introduction to curve stitching was in Maths Lessons after O levels were finished, I then went on to teach Maths and used to draw these designs with pupils in MathsFun Clubs I ran. The first book I ever had on it was "Curve Stitching" by Jon Millington, published in 1989. This is complete with Computer Programs for BBC and Spectrum computers - a different age!

Really like the free Heart Circle Curve stitching pattern and would like to see more scaled down versions of the free string art patterns, particularly the boat and the shell, which I think would
be good for cards for men. I did the heart circle one for my husband for Valentine's day in multicolour red metallic thread on a cream card layered on red card, then gold card on top of the main cream card - looks very sophisticated!!! He will be intrigued how the pattern forms! The art is in the design - thank you.

I'm all for these patterns derived from your "string art" work. If you're so inclined, adapt any of them to the smaller format, they're terrific.

Hi DJ - I pricked out the design and finished it in under half an hour - it looks great. Used the lighter confetti shade of metalic thread but want to try it out with two colours and see what effect that has. Will let you know. Thanks again, the design is causing quite a stir amongst my friends. Yvonne

Thank you for your reactions Yvonne and Lisa c. I would be interested to hear your thoughts after you have stitched the patterns. Ease of use etc.
Best wishes,
David.

I love this design. I will download it and use maybe this weekend even. I would love to see more atc designs. Patterns that fit on 3.5 by 2.5.
