Sneak preview of a stitching pattern for the Pinbroidery web site
Posted on Monday, March 23rd, 2009Just in case you think that I am sitting in the sunshine enjoying the beautiful spring weather that has been favouring the south of England for the past few days, I thought I had better let you know that I am busy working on some new stitching designs. This is a sneak preview of one of the patterns that I am designing for the Pinbroidery web site.
These patterns are inspired by the work of William Morris. He was a nineteenth century English architect, furniture and textile designer, artist, writer, and socialist associated with the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and the English Arts and Crafts Movement.
The patterns are designed for a card size of 144 mm x 144 mm (approximately 5½ x 5½ inches). They are packed with detail and take ages to stitch so I hope that you are up for the challenge.
There will be six patterns and they will be ready soon. You will be the first to know when they are released.

wow David, this looks brilliant. I am sure we would not think you were sitting in the sunshine, I have been as currently waiting to go into hospital. So last week it was stitching in the summerhouse and was just lovely.

David, how long do you count as “ages” to stitch? Seriously though, they look lovely.
They take about twice as long to stitch as typical Stitching Cards patterns, Katharine. The main reason for this is the number of the small leaves. It is also taking me much longer to get the instructions finished because of the amount of detail.

I am not really intending to be evasive in my estimate of how long they will take to stitch, Katharine. People will work at different speeds depending on a number of factors; including how experienced they are at stitching and what else there is to distract them whilst they are stitching, such as watching TV. I start with the advantage of knowing the pattern, since I have designed it. Perhaps I should set up a poll to find out peoples average stitching time.

to me it does not matter how long it takes to stitch, they are just a joy to do , sometimes it will take me a couple of evenings to do 1 card, depends whats on telly, and other interruptions, I may only get 10 mins one night but they are definitely theraputic to do. Thanks David
