Pinbroidery card size free test pattern

Thank you to everyone who has provided useful feedback to my question “Do you like the size of the Pinbroidery patterns?” In order to take the survey to the next stage I have produced a reduced size version of the flower corners pattern. It is available free from the Pinbroidery web site blog.

I have reduced the pattern to 120 x 120 mm (4¾ x 4¾ inches). There are a number of manufacturers who produce single fold greetings card blanks that a stitched panel of this size could be mounted on.

You will have to download the original full size flower corners pattern to get the stitching instructions.

The reduction of about 20% means that the holes are a bit closer together but the spacing should still be adequate.

I do like the larger size as it gives me more scope to develop the pattern. What I have in mind for future Pinbroidery patterns is that I could supply the pricking pattern in two sizes: 144 mm square and a reduced size to be decided. Your feedback will help me come to a decision on this.

Free Easter egg easy prick and stitch greetings card pattern

This beautiful Easter egg pattern is easy for beginners to stitch and if you are experienced at greetings card embroidery you will find it quick to complete. The downloadable pattern includes step-by-step instructions. The egg is decorated with tiny multicoloured beads. An alternative to beads could be self-adhesive jewels or sequins.

The photograph shows the Easter egg stitched with the cross hatching in red thread and the outline in purple thread. It is decorated with silver lined glass seed beads.

Variation on the free Valentine Hearts pattern

Prick and Stitch blog reader Cheryl Rose has sent us a picture of her variation on the free Valentine hearts pattern published here earlier in the week. Cheryl has replaced the words with a beautiful rose decoupage.

The corner hearts are stitched in pink thread. The stitched rectangle of white card is cut out with rounded corners and mounted on a sheet of dark pink card. The pink rectangle is then cut with rounded to form a narrow border.

The resulting picture is mounted on a two tone pink striped background. Silver corner stickers add the finishing touch to this stunning card.

This beautiful Valentine Hearts pattern is easy for beginners to stitch and if you are experienced at embroidery on paper you will find it quick to complete. The downloadable pattern includes step-by-step instructions. As well as Valentines cards it could be used as an anniversary card. Just leave off the Valentines greeting and substituting another greeting using the free Stitching Cards TrueType font or a sticker.

The photograph shows the hearts stitched in red thread and the Happy Valentines Day greeting stitched in copper thread.

Free candle prick and stitch pattern to download

I originally designed the candle pattern for my String Art Is My Craft web site and it has been popular with string art enthusiasts. A number of card crafters have said that they would like to try it as a greetings card pattern so I have now converted it for prick and stitch.

The illustration shows the card stitched using Kreinik 1 ply polyester metallic cord. The base is antique gold, the candle red and the flame gold.

Christmas bauble free and easy prick and stitch card pattern

This Christmas bauble pattern is easy to stitch as most of the work comprises of stem stitch. The downloadable pattern includes instructions for stem stitch.

The photograph shows the bauble outline stitched in metallic red thread. The swirls are blue and the lines are green. The bauble top and string are stitched in gold thread.

Free easy prick and stitched Christmas card snowflake border pattern

I have been looking at the search terms that visitors have used to find this blog. “Easy stitching patterns” appears regularly. So with this in mind I have designed a Christmas pattern that should be easy for beginners to stitch. If you are not a beginner it will be good for producing quicker stitched Christmas cards.

I have made an example card from the pattern and you can see it on the right. The two vertical columns of snowflakes are stitched in Kreinik confetti pink thread and the words are stitched in red thread. I have added some vintage Christmas clipart of bells and holly to show the possibilities. You could add 3D decoupage, tea bag folding, a photograph or whatever takes your fancy.

Free stitching card corner scroll pattern

This corner scroll pattern is easy to stitch directly on to a greetings card. The simple design is worked in stem stitch. The photograph below shows the scrolls on a hammered cream card stitched in green thread. I have added a photograph of an iris that I took in my garden. You could add a picture with decoupage, rubber stamping, teabag folding etc.

The corner scrolls could also be used on a square card by repositioning the pricking pattern.

I have just designed a prick and stitch flower pattern for visitors to the Prick And Stitch Is My Craft web site. You can use this simple design to try out the embroidery card making technique.

I have used Kreinik metallic thread in green, red and gold on a hammered white card. The stem and flower outlines are worked in stem stitch. The flower centre and leaves are worked in crossing fill.

The sky, petals and grass are coloured with Dovecraft Decorative chalks. These come in a palette of solid colours. You use small balls of cotton wool to apply the chalk. The chalks are great for getting delicate effects.
